BlackMike Model model builds

Here is my interpretation of Su-27UB1M Blue 71 of the 831 BrTA, Ukrainian Air Force. I used the standard GWH kit with the Foxbot paint mask and decal sets. (If you don't fancy painting this scheme GWH do a Ltd Edition kit, S4817, which includes decals for the scheme instead.    

Completed on the last day of 2023, my Dora Wings 1/48 P-43 Lancer kit. This kit is of a limited run nature but went together surprisingly well. There was some flash to clean up on some of the smaller parts but the detail is very nice and includes a very detailed cockpit and engine. A photo-etch sheet helps to enhance the details. This is my HobbyBoss 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Me-262B-1a/U1 Nightfighter built to represent Red 12 after the end of hostilities and under new ownership. The kit is simple enough to build with some care needed to get the gun covers on the nose closed properly (they appear to be designed to be left open to show off the nose guns). Decals and markings were a combination of from the spares box, home printed masks for the '12' (thanks Paul) and from an Xtradecal sheet. Paints were Mr Hobby and Mr Color as usual with a base of Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black....

This started out as a very quick build to provide something to test out the famous hairspray technique on. I'd never done a temporary winter white wash style finish before and wanted to give it a go on something that wouldn't break the Bank if it all went wrong. Here is my first attempt at a winter camo, White 2 of IV/JG54, winter 1943 Eastern Front.  

This is my Merit 1/48 scale (Trumpeter tooling) Gloster Gladiator Mk.1. I replaced the kit engine and cowl parts for a resin aftermarket set from SBS resin.  Painted using AK Interactive Xtreme Metal paints and rigged with EZLine.    Duncan B
